As a fourth grader I was in awe of my teacher Miss Kestler who was tall, athletic, funny and musical. In May of each year we had a wonderful May Pole with streamers, a May Court, dancing and singing to welcome spring. She taught us the songs and dances. I still have a phtotgraph of all us fourth graders with Miss Kestler sitting on the steps at Davie Avenue School. She was a wonderful model of a teacher. No wonder many of us were inspired to follow in her footsteps. It was she who taught me that as a teacher it was more important who she was than what lessons she taught.
I've taught language arts, English, History and Social Studies in public schools through the years. After I retired I became a part of the adjunct faculty at ASU, teaching Children's Literature. I find that I learn as much as I teach.
I look forward to my learning experience with you at Lenior Rhyne.
I look forward to working with all of you at LR.
